This is a beautiful ride up to Independence (store there) and back on quiet back roads except for a short stretch on Blue Bell Rd in Brenham as a connector. It is a great ride but not easy, 46 hilly miles!

To get there, take Highway 290 from Houston, go about 65 miles (12 miles past Hempstead) until you come to the flashing light at the intersection of Hwy. 290 and FM 1155. There's a sign there that says "Chappell Hill" to the right. Turn right on FM 1155 and go about 1 mile to the center of town. Turn right on Poplar. Park in the empty lot on Poplar just behind the restrooms.
