    • Pattison

    Ride starter: Ronald

To get a break from driving far we'll start from Pattison, some newly paved back roads! 41 miles, flat and easy.

NOTE: 9:00am start due to cool weather forecast

This ride uses some back roads to Burleigh, then turns West to go to Sealy, rest stop in Sealy, back roads again to get to FM 1458 and back into Pattison. Flat route, ca 41 miles.  Shorter alternative routes possible.

    Start Location:

To get to the start, go west on I-10 to Brookshire exit to Hwy. 359 and turn right. Go about 1 mile to a stop light (T-intersection) at Hwy 90. Turn left at the light (paralleling the RR tracks). Go past one light (Otto St.) then turn right at the 2nd light (Bains St. / FM 359N). Veer left when you come to the FM 359/FM 362 split. Go north on FM 359 for about 2.5 miles until you come to a small sign that says "Royal High School". Turn right there (Durkin Rd.) and proceed to the 2nd school building. The parking spot is behind the high school, which is the middle of the three driveways between the Jr.High and the Sr. High

    • 510 Crestwood

We're doing another slightly shorter version of our Urban Challenge Rides. A little shorter and not quite as fast as a regular Urban Challenge Ride, hence the UCR Lite designation. But still a good way to have some fun exploring the city.

Distance will probably be about 30 miles, with a stop for breakfast and one more rest stop if necessary. Direction of travel will be decided at the start. This is a group ride, and nobody gets dropped, pace is whatever is comfortable for whoever shows up.

We'll meet in front of Dan's house at 510 Crestwood on the eastern edge of Memorial Park.  Note: Start time is 9:00.

Best ride location and options.  We'll go for ca. 45 miles with rest stop.

Several distances ranging from 33 miles to 59 miles, pretty hilly by HBC standards. Rest stops in Independence and Burton. Optional loop to Lake Somerville if you wish to add some miles.

Start: To get to the start, take Hwy. 290 northwest and keep going past Hempstead, past Chappell Hill, and then another 10-12 miles to Brenham. Follow signs to Blinn College. Park in the lot on College Street at the college.

**Note: Check road condition on 290 before heading out, might need to use alternate route***

    • 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    • Chappell Hill, Texas

    Ride starter: Ronald

We'll ride North using some little traveled back-roads, then loop around and return to CH.  Expect 45 miles.

To get there, take Highway 290 from Houston, go about 65 miles (12 miles past Hempstead) until you come to the flashing light at the intersection of Hwy. 290 and FM 1155. There's a sign there that says "Chappell Hill" to the right. Turn right on FM 1155 and go about 1 mile to the center of town. Turn right on Poplar. We are now parking in the empty lot on Poplar just a block from Main Street. Not a pay lot, but there is a donation box if you feel generous.  Rest rooms available.

    • 6104 Auden

Ride at 8:30    Lunch at 11:30

Our first ride of the year will start at the West University Community Center at about 8:30 in the morning. We'll take a leisurely ride around town, about 20 miles with a short rest stop along the way. But we'll be sure the group gets back in time for the potluck lunch.

Everyone is encouraged to bring your favorite dish to share with the other club members. The club is providing the main dish and drinks. The rest is up to you. It could be a salad, a vegetable dish, a dessert, or anything else you might want to share with us. Be sure to bring the appropriate serving utensils for whatever dish you bring. In addition to the comaraderie, we'll all be bragging about how far we rode this year (or didn't). We'll have door prizes, some announcements about HBC events in 2019, and we'll have a chance to set our mileage goals for 2019, depending on how ambitious we feel.

The West University Community Center is at 6104 Auden - on the corner of Rice Blvd. (2 blocks east of Weslayan). Come ride if you can, but even if you don't ride, be sure to come for the lunch and socializing.

We'll ride the NORTHERN LOOPS today, store in Weimar, ca. 43 miles.  Shorter options possible.

This ride has several options between 24 and 58 miles, with flat to rolling hills, open fields, good roads and pretty scenery, very little traffic. But the only store is in Weimar, so take along some supplies.

To get there, go about 75 miles west on I-10 to US-90/Columbus exit, cross bridge to Courthouse Sq. Park on south side of the square.
